Jean Jacques LEVEAU (Rouen 1729 - 1785) “Port de Flessingue” Original etching from a subject by Bonaventura Peeters, printed and published in Paris by the publisher and print merchant Pierre Francois Basan. Beautiful copy printed on thick laid paper bearing the “Double-faced crowned Big Eagle” typical of French paper production of the 18th century, complete with the imprint of the plate and with very small margins, in a generally perfect state of conservation. Bonaventura Peeters (Antwerp 1614 - 1652) was a painter, draftsman and engraver and during his short life he was considered among the main artists of marine subjects active in the Low Countries. Bibliography: Beraldi Portalis "Les Graveurs du XVIIIme siecle" Paris 1881 volume 2 page 706 n ° 12. LeBlanc "Manuel ..."
